but not everyone wants to be trampled to death by a mob in search of something on sale:
"Worker killed in Christmas rush
NEW YORK - A US supermarket worker was trampled to death in a rush of shoppers at the start of the traditional Christmas sales yesterday, on the day after Thanksgiving.
The 34-year-old was swept away as long queues poured into the Long Island Walmart as the doors opened at 5am.
Police said a throng of shoppers "physically broke down the doors, knocking him to the ground". Four others were taken to hospital, including a pregnant woman." (Reuters)

Garda Johns to you...

Got a phone call from a director asking me if I wanted to be in a documentary drama called Garda ar Lar. Had my first of two days today... Turns out all the focus is on me! I'm playing Garda Gary Sheehan who was tragically killed by the IRA on 24th of November, 1983, which is 25 years ago last Monday. Weird that we started filming so close to the anniversary! Filming again tomorrow and it should be on TV in Jan. Don't feel so confident in the role as a lot is ad lib, which I'm not used to but sure it's all experience!
excuse the crappy cam phone pic. You get the idea though..

The City as a Social Space
Here's some shots I've been working on. I was trying to get into the whole paranoia that's associated with the city by personifying the sinister part of the city.

Empty Streets
Adult Version:

Kiddy Version:

Think I'm gonna build upon the idea of shooting in empty shops and try and make it into a proper series of photographs.

The Hot Sprockets
Last Friday, The Hot Sprockets launched their new EP, Country Dirt.
If I have faith in one Irish band to break out of this island and do some damage around the rest of the world, it's these lads. The atmosphere at their gigs is comparable to that of The Libertines during their hey-day, which is something I really admire. There's such a buzz between the members - you can tell the band are really close, almost as close as the connection between fan and member - they seem to crossover... you know, with fans jumping up on stage to join in on the festivities! :-)
Here are my photos from the gig:
